10 Year Yield Wins "My Award" for Most Perplexing Market in 2017
To my mind, the market that is awarded "Most Perplexing, and Most Confounding" is 10 year Treasury YIELD.
After Trump's election, the shift to a pro-growth agenda (albeit with many fits and starts), the revival of animal spirits in the economy, tax reform, tax repatriation, global synchronized economic growth, overlaid on an historically low Unemployment Rate, and a much less friendly Fed... all managed to fail to move the longer term interest rate needle to the upside.
Yes, the one missing ingredient was over signs of rising inflationary pressures.
Nonetheless, I remain incredulous, but suspicious, especially when I look at the attached intermediate term technical set up exhibited by the 10 year YIELD chart...
